Sympathy Card

I had to make a sympathy card this week for our Pony Club to send to a family from another club. Of course I had to include horses as they have been a major part of this lady's life. I used a retired set and was very happy with how it turned out. The verse is particularly apt: "The wind of heaven is that which blows through a horse's ear".

Vale Kim Hammond - she will be sorely missed from our zone. She was a generous lady with a big heart and always there to lend a hand when needed. Deepest sympathy to Andy and Molly.

Stamping Frenzy

When I do workshops and classes I always make up extra kits and as a result I have ended up with a huge box of kits. Recently some of my lovely customers, Kim, Helena, Nan, Raelee and Pam came over and the challenge was to make up some of the kits using their own designs.

I set up my stamp pad caddies and I was the runner, getting whatever stamp set they wanted to use.

It was a very productive day. Raelee was a powerhouse, making over 20 cards. She even made a card up using the scraps from everyone else's cards!

Here are some of the cards, aren't they great.

I still have heaps of kits left so we will definitely have to do it again sometime.

I hope you are finding time to do some creating of your own.

Now I am back with lots of exciting news from Stampin' Up!®.

There is a new promotion this month, Paper Party.

There are a couple of ways to benefit from this promotion.

Secondly, if you sign up as a demonstrator between 1 May and 31 May 2012 (see details of the new special price for the starter kit a bit further on) you will get a free packet of Designer Series Paper (excluding the speciality papers) each month till the end of the year. How good is that!

Now for the best news. Stampin' Up!® has changed the starter kit. You can now get a fully customisable kit for just $160 with a value of over $235 plus a business supplies pack valued at $80. My First Christmas Card

I received my first Christmas card in the post today from my friend Kim. How organised is she!Kim designed this card herself. She had the "D is for Dog" stamp set and thought she could use the dog as if he was running away with the tinsel from the tree. It worked out really well. I had shown how to make clouds in a class a couple of weeks ago and she has used this technique as well. Well done Kim!

Here's hoping that I get my cards out before Christmas this year!

Here is a card I made using a new stamp set, Creative Elements. You may think the flower has been layered up a few times but it is a single layer. The stamp has white edges around the petals which gives the illusion that they have been mounted up. Isn't it great!

Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Early Expresso

Stamp Sets: Creative Elements, retired greeting

Last chance - Gift with Purchase & Autumn Mini Catalogue

Only a few more days to take advantage of the Gift with purchase and get the roll of ribbon and buttons that I have used in this card. The scanner didn't do it justice but the card is Melon Mambo with Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight. The vase of flowers is a sneak peek of a stamp set from the new Idea Book and Catalogue which comes out on 1 September. This set is made to use with buttons, I know you will love it. If you are wondering how I did the mounting of the greeting, I used Decorative Label Extra Large Punch. I stamped the greeting and punched it out and then I punched two more labels out of Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight. You then cut them in half and cut the points of both sides of the cut edges. Then you put some adhesive on the top and bottom of the greeting label and stick it to the cut halves one by one. I will do some photos of these steps on the weekend and post it for you.

The second card is made using the Make a Monster set from the Idea Book and Catalogue. This is a great set for children's cards as there are lots of different, eyes, mouths and other bits to make any sort of monster you like. I have also used the Pompom Trim from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue. To adhere it to the card I have used the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets. Just peel back the top layer and press down your Pompom Trim onto the sticky side. Press down firmly and then peel up and put on to your card. How easy is that! The adhesive sheets comes in a pack of 12 sheets (30.5 x 30.5cm) so are good value at $29.95.

I have used Pumpkin Pie for the card, then Baja Breeze, Whisper White with a strip of Greenhouse Gala designer series paper. The monsters have been coloured using an aqua brush and the lids of the stamp pads. The greeting is from the Curly Cute set, another favourite.

The Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue ends on 31 July 2011, the same time as the Gift with Purchase promotion. So if you put in an order of $100 before the end of the month, you will get the ribbon and buttons for free! Just email me if you want to put an order in.

I hope you have all been keeping warm and finding time to do some stamping.

cheers

Welcome Back

Well I am finally back to blogging again. My husband and I took 3 months leave, hitched up the caravan and headed to Western Australia. WA is the only state we haven't been to so we were very excited to finally be going there. We had the best time, so many highlights, particularly Coral Bay, Karajini National Park, the Bungle Bungles and so much more. We did over 18,000 kilometres so managed to see lots of this wonderful state.

Here are a couple of cards that I have used in my classes. I try to make one male card each class as I know this can be a challenge for some people.
This card uses the single stamp "Sail Away" from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue and the cardstock is Not Quite Navy with Crumb Cake which has been embossed with the Lattice embossing folder. The image is stamped in Stazon on Very Vanilla cardstock and has been coloured using a blender pen. Some hemp twine has been knotted and put under the label.

This is another single stamp from the mini catalogue - "Motorcycle". The base cardstock is Basic Grey and some patterned paper from Blueberry Crisp has been added. I like how the patterned paper looks a bit like tyre tracks. A piece of 1.6cm grosgrain ribbon has also been added. The motorcycle was stamped in Stazon on Very Vanilla cardstock and coloured with Night of Navy and Basic Black and then I went over the chrome bits on the bike with Platinum Shimmer Paint using a small paint brush and the painted bits with Frost White. This is then mounted on Sahara Sand and Night of Navy cardstock. The greeting has been stamped on Sahara Sand cardstock and cut out with the Modern Label Punch and I cut a second label out of Night of Navy, cut it in half and then stuck each piece behind the greeting label to look as if it is on a larger punch. A great way to get an extra use out of your punches.

I hope you like the cards.

I'm Back!

I can't believe how long it is since I have blogged. I hope to be more active on my blog this year.

I hope you had a lovely Christmas as I did and I wish you all a happy, healthy and creative new year.

As a former Queenslander and with family in Toowoomba and Killarney, my heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by the floods. The devastation and loss of lives was unbelievable. My thoughts are also with those affected in other states as well. It was so uplifting to see the massive volunteer turnout to help with the clean up. It makes me proud to be an Aussie!

As in the bushfires, Stampin' Up! is now supporting the flood relief and will donate $2 of the retail value of sales from any stamp set (with a retail value of $30 or more) sold from 15 January through 15 February to the State Emergency Services. If there is a stamp set that you were thinking of getting, then now is the time do so and support the flood relief. I will also be having a fundraising event and will provide details in the next day or two.

Here is a card I made for a challengeon an internet group - Stampin Up In Oz. This is an Australian only group for anyone that loves creating with Stampin' Up products and would like to share their latest creations, techniques and patterns with others. Contact me if you would like more information on how to join.

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Whisper White
Inks: Crumb Cake, Real Red
Stamp Set: Simply Said, greeting from Always.
Ribbon: Red Gingham (retired)

July Secret Sister Gifts

Good afternoon

Here is a picture of the July Secret Sister gifts that I received. Aren't they amazing! I had suspicions that my Secret Sister might have been in WA but the stamp on this lot said NSW so I am really stumped. I am sure she is a perfectionist though because all of the items she has sent me have been expertly crafted.

Inside the bags were some gifts, the butterfly stamp 'All a Flutter' the Thank You Emobsslit die and a pack of sugar free lollies. I thought the lollies were so thoughtful as I am a diabetic and shouldn't have too much sugar. How spoilt am I?

To all those who have ordered from the Last Chance List (see earlier post) the postage is taking a little longer as SU has been inundated with orders. Please be patient, they will come. Also, some items have already sold out so if you are thinking about putting an order in, don't delay.

Secret Sister Gifts

Yesterday I showed you some secret sister gifts that I had made for my secret sister. Today I am going to show you what I received in June from my secret sister.

The card is in Not Quite Navy cardstock and the patterned paper is from the Urban Garden designer series paper. The flowers are from the Vintage Vogue stamp set and have been stamped in Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze. The centre of the flower and the embellishments are the clear rhinestone brads. The leaves are the branch from the 2 step bird punch. The flower and leaves sit on cut down top note dies in Not Quite Navy and Whisper White. The box is made from the same but with the full top note dies. The box is held shut by some great magnets. Inside the box was a packet of Soho Hardware and the small heart punch. How spoilt am I? Both items are perfectly executed and I was so pleased to receive them. I won't find out who my secret sister is until the end of August. Not sure I can wait that long.

Tomorrow I will show you what I received today for my July gifts.

Don't forget to check out the Last Chance List and order anything that you want before they retire. The cardstock will be increasing in price in the next catalogue so you may want to stock up this month.

Gift Voucher

A lot of my customers like to give Stampin' Up! gift vouchers which I design individually for each customer. Here is one that I designed for a friend.

It opens up with the voucher inside. I have used Soft Suede cardstock and ribbon, Very Vanilla cardstock with an eyelet border edge and have used the Very Vintage wheel over the Soft Suede. The flower is made using six scallop circles which are alternate Soft Suede cardstock and DSP. The scallops were scrunched and then opened up and put together with a rhinestone brad.

The gift vouchers can be for any amount and there is no extra charge for the voucher. It is a great idea when you are not sure what the person has or their likes/dislikes. If you have an occasion where you could use a gift voucher just let me know.

2 Step Bird Punch

Here is a card made using the 2 Step Bird Punch. This is such a versatile punch and I have used it in many ways. I got this idea from Valita from Valita's Designs and Fresh Folds. You can see her card here. I love how Valita has changed the bird to become a bird family.

Last Chance List (retiring list)

We know we are very close to the new catalogue when the Last Chance List of retiring products is released.

You can view the Last Chance List here. The list is 8 pages long but it doesn't mean that all the items listed are going for good. For example, the punches in the new catalogue will be the new flat format, the makers, water colour crayons, stampin spots and paper packs will be the new colour families. You can get some good savings as some of the items are up to 50% off. Items are on sale from today until 31 August 2010 or WHILE STOCKS LAST! Just email me if you would like to place an order.

To celebrate the new catalogue I will be having a catalogue launch with my downline Fiona on Saturday 4 September. More details to follow closer to the date. You will be able to see the new catalogue and do some make and takes using the new products. There will also be a sale of our craft products that are no longer current.

I apologise for my lack of postings. I can't believe how long it has been. To make up for it I have a few creations to share with you. The first is some items I made for a Secret Sister swap for an online group that I am a part of. You get to be a secret sister for 3 months. The following is what I sent for the second month. I try to do each month to a theme and this month I used the Asian Artistry hostess stamp set. This is the first card I sent using Real Red, Sahara Sand, Whisper White and a pattern from the Sweet Slumber Specialty papers. I coloured the image using Read Red and Mellow Moss markers and finished off the card with some Real Red grosgrain ribbon.
The second picture shows the second card and gifts. I stuck to the same colour scheme and stamp set just using a different image. The small box contains a regular wheel and the larger item is a slider - just pull the ribbon at the top and out pops a large chocolate bar. I hope my Secret Sister likes them. I have to confess that I made a big booboo. When you send express post you have to sign the declaration on the front of the envelope and I forgot I was supposed to be a secret and signed my name. Unfortunately my signature is easy to read so I am probably not so secret!
The next card was done for a lady at work who asked me to make a card for a friend of hers who is a mad Adelaide Crows supporter. It took me a while to think of what I could make and then I thought a guernsey would be good. Her favourite players are No: 9 & 23 so I put one on the front and the other on the back. I thought it turned out pretty well.
That's it for now. I am in the middle of pulling out all my retiring stamp sets to make way for the new!

Convention & Special Offer

Wow, last weekend was the 2010 Stampin' Up! convention and what a fabulous time I had. Eight of my downlines and myself travelled to Sydney for the annual convention. We had a great time, except for being evacuated twice from our accommodation at Darling Harbour on Friday morning! First time was 1am and then again at 3am and we were on the 13th floor and had to walk down the stairs twice. It was such a sight to see everyone on the street in the pyjamas. Needless to say we were a tad tired during the sessions on Friday.

On Thursday night I attended the Manager's Reception which is for demonstrators titled Manager and above. Firstly we had a talk by Shelli Gardner, the CEO and Co-Owner of Stampin' Up! and then we had dessert and hot chocolate. The surprise was that the hot chocolate was served in lovely mugs that had the image from Share a Cup stamp on the mug.

When we left the reception we were presented with the mug (a nice new one, not the one we drank from) and inside the mug was the Share a Cup stamp. How generous is that! Here is a picture of our gift.

Friday and saturday was filled with demonstrations, business talks, yummy lunches and Prize Patrol. I was lucky enough to win a stamp set in Prize Patrol which is just like a lucky door prize. Two of my girls won as well. We also received two new stamp sets in our convention bag and we used them in the make and take session to make four projects. At the end of the sessions on Saturday, Shelli gave us all another free stamp set from the upcoming catalogue. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of Stampin' Up!

On the Saturday night it was the awards dinner. We walked in on a red carpet and there were lots of "papparazzi" taking our photos. The dinner was just delicious. I was lucky enough to receive an award for personal sales and you can see the lovely decorated bag below. Unfortunately I can't show you what I received as it is two stamp sets from the new Idea Book and Catalogue which comes out in September. You will just have to wait and see! I was also recognised on stage for reaching $100,000 in career sales and received a cash bonus.

We always find out at the Awards Night where the next convention will be held and for 2011 it is MELBOURNE! I am so excited to be going there. Another announcement was the destination for the 2011 Incentive Trip. Everything went quiet and then all these dancers came in and put on a peformance incorporating ladies and gents from the audience. It was so funny. We were so excited to hear that the next incentive trip is FIJI!!!!! I so want to go so will be trying very hard to qualify.

Another announcement was that from now until the end of July, there will be a 20% discount on the starter kit for new demonstrators. Usually $324, you can join now for just $259. There is well over $500 of product in the starter kit so this is a great offer. It is worth joining just to be able to go to convention! Seriously, you don't have to work the business, you can just join to satisfy your stamping addiction by purchasing your products at a discount. If you would like more information, just contact me and I will be happy to answer any question you have. I have a team of 26 and we get together monthly and I am always there to support you. Would love to hear from you if you are interested.

Well, I really need to finish unpacking so that is all for now.

Welcome Ivy Grace

This is a card I made for my friend Tash and her husband who are celebrating the arrival of their beautiful daughter, Ivy Grace. The card is Pretty in Pink and I have wheeled the Nursery Letters jumbo wheel across the bottom in the same colour. Above this is a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock which has been stamped with the Polka Dot background stamp, and some So Saffron 5/8" grosgrain ribbon around it. A row of piercing is above this piece. The embellishment is the elephant from Nursery Necessities. I stamped in versamark first and then into the Certainly Celery ink pad and stamped on whisper white. I then sprinkled heat and stick powder on the image, used the heat tool to melt the powder and then sprinked Dazzling Diamonds on top. The excess was shaken off and the image heated again to set the glitter. I then cut out the image and mounted it on a So Saffron cirlce which has also been pierced. The words are from the same set and have been punched out using the Word Window Punch and the edges daubed in Certainly Celery.

I will be back tomorrow with a Goodbye Summer Mini Catalogue Special!
